“You guys don’t really get much snow in Cincinnati…”

Those are words I hear from my Dad all the time during the winter, usually after Cleveland has been hit by yet another foot or two of Lake Effect Snow. Well Dad, this post is for you. I just got in from two hours worth of shoveling our driveway and our neighbor’s, and thought I’d take a few pictures to document this “not much snow in Cincinnati” observation… Just think of us while you are sipping cool drinks on the beach in Florida

The Flying Pig Marathon

I’m running in the 4-person relay in the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon tomorrow. In the spirit of the marathon weekend, we signed Lukas up too. Ok, he is just crawling, so obviously 26.2 miles would be a little much for him. Plus he gets distracted by bugs and leaves and other stuff on the ground, so that would take him a long time…

We had him in the 1 and under “Piglet Diaper Dash”. They set up some mats inside a fenced off area (the “piglet pen”?), and had heats of infants crawling to the end. It was pretty cute. It was pretty wet though too, so we got the heck out of there as soon as Lukas finished his lap and got his medal. Of course, he had to stop several times to pick up blades of grass and other junk on the mats.

Our boy really has some great expressions. Well, every parent probably says that about their kids, but really, he does! Anyway, we decided to start capturing some of these. Here are some for starters. You can always check back to see if there’s anything new and interesting…

Our neighbors next door have a little boy Corgi pup, and the neighbors across the street have the sister, and they recently adopted another. They came by to visit, and Lukas loved it. Those puppies are just his size!

Earthquake Felt in Cincinnati

Those aren’t words you hear very often. There was a 5.4 earthquake this morning, centered in Southeast Illinois, just outside West Salem. It’s effects were felt as far away as Milwaukee, WI – and it was felt all over the Cincinnati area as well. I don’t think we felt it at all. Local ABC station WCPO has a nice writeup about it, with comments from viewers.
